Fig 1. Kirill Gluschenko, Self-portrait in Yerevan, 2023
Kirill Gluschenko (b. 1983, Kaliningrad) is the head of a fictional publishing house called ‘Gluschenkoizdat Press,’ of which he is also the sole employee—a reporter of sorts—who spends his time visiting towns in Russia and the former Eastern Bloc to take photographs and publish books about them. Project took its final form in the exhibition ‘Our Days are Rich and Bright’ (2016) and received the Innovation Prize (Moscow, 2017). Over the years, his practice has developed into artistic research and working with archives. His project ‘Venets,’ first shown in Venice in 2017, was awarded the Marion-Ermer Prize (Leipzig, 2018) and nominated for the Kandinsky Prize (Moscow, 2019). Its accompanying publication ‘Venets: Welcome to The Ideal’ received the Deutsche Architekturmuseum Architectural Book Award. In 2020, Gluschenko directed his first film, ‘Moscow Lights’, for the 2nd Garage Triennal. Gluschenko holds an MA in Photography from Lepzig Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
